Rahway, New Jersey is a traditional family town with an old-fashioned feel. Rahway has always been the perfect place to raise a family, because of its small-town values and close-knit community spirit. Rahway’s motto is “never say never,” which captures the essence of Rahways culture perfectly. Rahway was founded in 1855 by John Fitch Jr., who simply wanted to build a mill on the Rahwacka River so he could provide his family’s textile business with enough cotton for production. Today, Rahway still thrives off its heritage as one of New Jersey’s oldest towns. Learn more here.

It has been a part of the Rahway Valley Railroad since 1864 and was also home to several carpet mills. Rahway is located in southern Union County along Rahway River Parkway West, which runs through Rahway from Cranford into Linden where it becomes South Wood Avenue. Rahway’s history can be found just about everywhere you look throughout the town. The Rahway Public Library was built in 1909 after being donated by Mr. Jaindl who had a huge impact on Rahways growth because he helped fund many local projects including the formation of the B’nai Abraham Synagogue. Other notable structures include The Krim Building which used to house one of New Jersey’s oldest synagogues dating back to 1926 when its first rabbi, Rabbi Benjamin Frankel, was Rahways first rabbi. Rahway is also home to the Rahway Cemetery which has been in operation since at least 1717 and includes graves of Revolutionary War soldiers.
