Renovating your bathroom is an exciting time. Not only does it add value to your home, but you’ll finally be able to have the bathroom of your dreams. There are a few things that you can do to help make your renovator’s first day on the job easy. Here’s how you can prepare your home for a speedy bathroom remodel.
1. Move Furniture Out of the Way
Your renovator is there to help transform your bathroom. They’re not necessarily there to move all of your furniture for you. They will, but you should take the time to move furniture for them. That allows them to quickly access the bathroom and start working.
That includes any furniture inside of the bathroom, too. Tables, shelves, anything that shouldn’t be there, should go. With a clear path to and from the bathroom to their truck, your renovators can quickly get what they need and keep working. Without furniture inside of the bathroom, they’ll spend less time preparing the bathroom, and more time renovating it.
2. Put Down Covers
Some renovators will lay down a cover in areas that they’ll walk to and from. It takes time to do that. You can speed up the process by putting down your tarp or plastic sheeting. This ensures that the mess stays concentrated in one area. Renovators won’t leave footprints behind, and the rest of your house can stay cleaner.
This is one small detail that is often overlooked by homeowners. Putting down the coverings and leaving it until the job is done can make your life easier and the renovation shorter.
3. Keep Kids and Pets Clear
If you intend on having pets and kids in the home while the renovation is occurring, then you need to make sure that they’re kept away from the workers. The presence of kids and pets can greatly slow down the process. Renovators need to make sure they’re safe.
Sit down with your children and tell them what your expectations are for them while the renovators are operating. You’ll want to keep pets in a crate, outside, or in a blocked room to keep them from getting into things they shouldn’t.
Without having children or pets in the way, renovators can focus on the task at hand and get it done.
